2015/16 La Liga Season Preview – Relegation Battlers

La Liga 2015/16 Season Relegation Battlers

Deportivo (4.00 to be relegated at Bet365) managed to avoid relegation last season by the skin of their teeth and overall it has to be said that their campaign last term was a successful one, especially after changing their manager at the late into the season.

Fans favourite Víctor Sánchez is now in charge of the club and there is optimism among the club faithful that Depor can potentially finish in mid table this term. It will be easier said than done though, especially with the club having spent so little in the transfer market.

Granada (3.25 to be relegated at Bet365) were another side which was fortunate to survive the drop and manager José Ramón Sandoval has to be given a lot of credit for their miraculous recovery at the end of the campaign – when it looked all doom and gloom.

Now Sandoval has had a full summer to prepare his squad and with the club having signed a host of new players, fans will be hoping that their side can enjoy a much more comfortable battle against the drop.

Eibar (3.25 at Bet365) managed to retain their La Liga status during their debut season in the Spanish top flight but Lady Luck had certainly smiled upon the minnows. Eibar were set to be relegated after finishing in 18th position but due to Elche’s financial irregularities, the club managed to remain in La Liga.

Now having appointed José Luis Mendilibar as the new manager Eibar will be hoping to capitalize on their break by enjoying another season among the big boys but there is no denying that the tiny club are set to go through another difficult campaign.

Promoted Trio

Real Betis, Sporting Gijon and Las Palmas are the three clubs that have earned promotion into La Liga this season and it will be interesting to see how the trio will perform.

It was a travesty for a Real Betis (5.00 at Bet365) to have been relegated two seasons ago but the Andalusians are back with a bang to La Liga once again and under the astute Pepe Mel, one should expect Béticos to be able to avoid relegation.

Sporting Gijon (2.50 at Bet365) will be making a return to La Liga following a three year absence and with club legend Abelardo Fernández leading the charge, it is expected that the Rojiblancos are also a good bet to stave off the drop.

While Betis and Gijon are established sides who have recently played in La Liga, Las Palmas (1.72 at Bet365) will be making their first appearance in the top flight after almost 15 years and many expect Los Amarillos to struggle.

That said, Las Palmas have made a couple of good signings over the summer such as Javier Garrido, Antolin Alcaraz and Sergio Araujo among others and Paco Herrera’s side are surely set to put up a good showing in La Liga this season.
